Young Leaders 2026

The National Society for Education is passionate about developing opportunities for young people to grow in leadership and character, in partnership with schools and communities.  The Archbishops’ Young Leaders Award is a fully resourced leadership and character education programme that empowers pupils to learn and practise key leadership skills and character virtues and to transform their communities through social action.

At Griffin Park, we offer Year 6s the opportunity to take part in the Young Leader's Award from January until the end of the school year. As part of this award, children take part in 6 units. These are: Leadership Skills; Inspirational Leaders; Local Community; National Community; Global Community and Community Action.

Combining work on researching leaders, planning school initiatives, taking part in leadership activities at home and planning a community action project, develops children's knowledge and understanding of what makes a good leader. It also links strongly to our school and British Values and these are referred to each session.
