This week we have been learning about...

Balancing on our bikes

Balance bikes encourages the development of motor skills and coordination. Steering, balancing, and navigating obstacles help children improve their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. These skills extend beyond cycling and are essential for various physical activities and daily tasks.

Pretending to be at the seaside

Pretending to go to the seaside can help children's imagination and social skills, such as teamwork and communication, as well as fostering independence and the ability to manage risks.

In PE, we have been pretending to be our favourite sea creatures! We had lots of fun pretending to …..

- Slither like an Eel
- Jump like an Octopus
- Walk sideways like Crabs
- Crawl like Starfishes
-Run like Fishes
-Shuffle like Sea snails
- Slide like Seahorses
- Roll like Pufferfishes.

After reading the book Pumpkin Soup, we made our own soup. The children helped to scoop out all the seeds and carefully chop the pumpkin. We added stock cubes, onion and a small potato. Then we poured just the right amount of water. After plugging the soup maker in we could hear the soup bubbling and churning. When it was ready we tasted our soup - it got a big thumbs up!

Signs of Autumn

We went for a walk to look for signs of Autumn. We found lots of leaves on the floor that had turned yellow and brown. At the first tree, Abdullah asked, “Are they pine cones?” Unfortunately they were not, but Abdullah had spotted bunches of seeds. We found a tree that looked very sad and droopy so we made ourselves look the same. Myla spotted a bright red berry. Awa found some flowers and when she touched them all the seeds fell on the floor. In the garden on the key stage 2 playground we found some mushrooms. Isabella was delighted to point out a tiny baby mushroom. Ask your child if they can spot any signs of Autumn on their way to and from school.

Singing Sienna

Sienna sang 2 Little Dicky Birds to the rest of the Nursery children - what a super star!

What big ears we have!

We cut out our own big ears and went on a listening walk. Inside school we heard the telephone ringing, children talking, the door beeping, water running and the fish swimming and making bubbles.

Outside we heard the wind blowing, dogs barking and a siren. We also found a very long bean!
