Trip to the Sealife Centre in Blackpool.

We had a wonderful time at the Sealife Centre in Blackpool. The children loved the journey on the coach with their friends. When we arrived we saw many different fish, crabs and even touched the starfish. We loved walking through the tunnels with the sharks swimming above our heads, even though it was a little scary! The children enjoyed watching the seahorses and rays swimming. We had a very busy day and some of the children were so tired that they fell asleep on the journey home!

Summer Term 2017

This half term we will be learning all about growing. We begin by reading the story Jack and the Beanstalk.  We will grow our own beans and read some information books about growing beans. Then we will share a story called Jaspers Beanstalk. During the half term we will be planting a variety of seeds and observing how they grow and change over time.

Our first few weeks of summer!

Welcome Back

We will start this term by reading The Three Little Pigs. The children decided that they would like to read this story and find out all about different houses and homes and the materials that are used to make them. We will read other stories based around the same idea-'Who's At The Door?' and 'Suddenly'.

We will also be thinking about Pancake Day and hopefully making some of our own!

As we move through the term we will be having some little visitors. They will arrive in tiny quail eggs and we shall look after them and watch them hatch and grow into quails.

Welcome to the Spring Term in Reception

This term we will be focusing on Traditional Tales and in these first two weeks the children have been learning about Goldilocks and the Three Bears. They have been busy playing with dry oats, tasting porridge and acting out the story and making their own story booklets.  We will also be learning about Little Red Riding Hood, The Gingerbread Man and the Three Little Pigs.

We will also be finding out all about Chinese New Year.

Welcome to Reception Class

We would like to welcome new faces to Griffin Park and also familiar faces from our Nursery.

We are so excited to start this journey with you and your child and cannot wait to get to know everyone and watch the children make new friends.

The children had a fantastic first week in school. We enjoyed meeting new friends, ordering and eating our lunch in the hall and also having our first PE lesson.  It was a very busy start but we had a super time.

Take a look at a few photographs of our memorable first days.

Our First Week in Reception

The chicks have arrived and hatched. We have been very excited and loved holding them.

World Book Day in Reception

The children looked fantastic as characters from their favourite books. Can you guess who we are?

Welcome Back Everyone!

We hope that you have had an enjoyable holiday and now ready for the next half term.

This half term we will be thinking about animals of different kinds. The children have shown great interest in animals and we will start by looking at pets. I have organised a visit into school from Cats Protection Society which sounds like fun.  We will then move onto thinking about new life and farm animals.  We are lucky that we will have the opportunity to hatch our own chicks in class and watch them grow a little.  It sounds like lots of fun!

If you have anything at home or have a pet that we could meet in school please let me know.
