Welcome to Year 2
Welcome back everyone and a very happy new year !
Our topic for this term is 'The Wonders Of Our World'.The children are going to investigate and research facts about animal habitats including micro-habitats and explore and compare the differences between things that are living, dead or have never been alive. They will have the opportunity to observe and explore mini-beasts and plants in their natural surrounding in our forest school.
The children will research significant people in our topic, including the first man to step on the moon.
Reading books will be changed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It is very important that your child reads at home. Talk to you child about the type of text they are reading, interesting words and the meaning of new words.
Mrs Clayton Young will be visiting our class at the end of the week to see how much reading the children have been doing at home, so please don't forget to sign your child's diary every time you listen to them read.
Maths facts will be tested every Thursday
Spellings will be tested every Friday.
Your child will receive a practice book to take home, they can use this to practice their facts and use the look, say, cover, write and check to practice spellings.
A little a day makes all the difference.
Will take place every Tuesday and Friday. On Friday the children will go swimming, so please remember swimming kits. If your child has long hair please remember to include a swimming cap.
