Year 2

Welcome to Year 2

We hope you have had a restful half term and the children are now ready to get back to school. Our topic for this term is ‘Footsteps’ .The children are going to take a learning journey into space. They will learn all about the first man to step on the moon and have fun listening to the adventures of  'Bob on the Moon' by Simon Bartram.

We will continue to make steps into the forest school and of course our school trip, which due to popular demand by your children, is Lytham seaside again!

                                   PE

Will take place every Monday and Friday. On Friday the children will go swimming, so please remember swimming kits. If your child has long hair please remember to include a swimming cap.

Home Reading

Reading books will be changed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It is very important that your child reads at home. Talk to you child about the type of text they are reading, interesting words and the meaning of new words.

Spelling/maths facts

Maths facts will be tested every Wednesday

Spellings will be tested every Friday.

Your child will receive a practice book to take home, they can use this to practice their facts and use the look, say, cover, write and check to practice spellings.

This is proving to be really effective thank you for all your hard work in supporting your child at home. A little a day makes all the difference.

Note

Just a little note to say the habitats that were made as our class project were amazing. It was very clear that a lot of effort was put into these. It was a difficult decision for the judge to decide on the winners.

Jen has been teaching us a habitat dance from Antarctica ! Can you guess what we are ?
