To support your child in their learning, please make sure that they...

• read daily for at least 5-10 minutes 

• complete their homework

• practise their weekly spellings

• practise their multiplication tables

Reading

Please listen to your child read, just 5-10 minutes a day makes a huge difference. Please sign your child's reading record and make sure they bring it to school every day. Reading books will be changed when children have finished them. 

Homework

Homework tasks will be sent home every Friday and children will have until the following Thursday to complete this and hand it in. They will be rewarded for completing their homework to a good standard. Children will have 3 tasks to choose from, and they can attempt all 3, or maybe just 1 or 2 of them. 

Spellings

These will be handed out every Friday and children will be tested the following Friday. Children should learn their spellings throughout the week. Green spelling books should be brought into school every day in case they need to practise at school. Our spellings are based on the Year 3 and 4 list of statutory spellings.

Multiplication

Children are expected to already have mastered their 2, 5 and 10 x tables by the time they reach Year 3. They will focus on 3, 4 and 8 x tables in preparation for them needing to master all multiplication tables in Year 4. To support this, please help your child to practise tables that they are working on. All children at Griffin Park have access to Times Tables Rockstars and should practise on this platform.
