Science Week 2022

Our theme for science week this year was all about 'Growth'. We started the week with a planetarium and some classes explored the possibilities of finding life on mars.

We also challenged stereotypes and had some visitors come to school for children to guess their job. They talked about their STEM job and the the subjects in STEM they enjoyed as a child. Year 4 visited Witton Park and had an educational talk from Myerscough college students and our Year 5 class enjoyed a visit to Witton Academy, investigating reversible and irreversible changes in the lab. We also had a visit from critters interactive and aqualease.

Science Week 2021

Science week this year was based around some of the learning that had been missed due to school closures. Each class had a small visitor, which they were very excited about.  Throughout the week teaching and learning focused around our key principles of learning about  science.

Asking questions

Using and understanding scientific vocabulary

Selecting their own equipment

Taking risks and knowing that mistakes happen and that is how science evolves

We started our week off with Sublime science and we were mesmerized with dry ice experiments.

BIG BANG NORTH WEST 2017: THE MOVIE

In July 2017 Years 4, 5 and 6 all attended this exhibition in Liverpool to look at careers and opportunities in STEM. look out for us at 3:12 and 3:44!

Big Bang North West 2017: The Movie! Courtesy of our Official Media Partner hi-impact consultancy, you can experience the excitement, inspiration, booms, bangs and fizzes of The Big Bang North West. Thousands of children celebrating Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths! Watch, attend, exhibit, support, sponsor - BBNW is amazing!

Mad Science Club was well attended and loved by the children. School subsidised the funding of this to make it a more affordable club.  Children are really enjoying the activities and learning how to become truly investigative scientists!
The children were excited to have Zany Z from Mad Science deliver an assembly. Zany Z showed us how to test for acids and alkalis, how to make 'safe' fire and how to pass electricity between children! WOW!
